Try This Quick and Easy Beach Makeup Routine
Now that it’s summer time, I am going swimming and to the beach a lot more often than I normally would during the school year. Therefore, my skincare and makeup routine has obviously changed during these warmer months to be more suitable for the heat, humidity, and water. For those of you who find a challenge in developing a summer regimen, try mine!
As soon as I wake up, I wash my face (I like Biore’s Pore Unclogging Scrub right now). If I am not wearing makeup, I follow by applying a moisturizer with SPF (Mario Badescu’s Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 30). If I am wearing makeup, I will skip this step and prime using a primer with SPF in it (I use the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer). Then, I conceal my dark spots using concealer in a shade that is my skin tone (I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in their new shade Truffle). Next, I conceal under my eyes in a shade a couple shades lighter than my skin tone (I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Amande). I follow by applying setting powder (Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder in the shade Deep Translucent) all over my face to set my concealer. To continue, I apply a waterproof mascara (Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara); however, I would not recommend wearing waterproof mascara when not swimming or intensely sweating as it can break your eyelashes. I then will brush out and feather in my eyebrows (I would recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz; I use the shade Ebony. You could also just brush them out if you’d rather not fill them in). To finish, I apply a setting spray all over (Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is my personal fave) to keep everything in place.
At night, I use a cleansing wipe to clear my makeup (I like Neutrogena’s Makeup Removing Cleansing Towelettes – Night Calming) followed by a cleanser (Biore’s Pore Unclogging Scrub). I finish by using my medicated creams but would suggest applying moisturizer without SPF for those who do not have acne medication (moisturizers with SPF can clog your pores, so you should never be using it before bed).
It’s important to look and feel confident wherever you go, and it’s easy to feel insecure when you’re swimming or headed to the beach. Thus being creative with makeup can easily boost you up and make you feel unique and strong. Test the waters with this tutorial and leave a comment below with your thoughts. Happy summer!
